Working in Montréal today - YUTU Lives!

Good morning folks,

It will be working in Montréal today.

Daniel, been not writing for a bit eh?  Yeah, no kidding.  Damn near a month since my Dante's Infernal Pulp and the flu and pneumonia started a week and a half before that.

Fortunately I am well on the way to a full and restored constitution and while by the end of the day I am just plain exhausted; I remind myself how much better some fatigue is than camping out on our sofa and having the most exciting part of my day being violent swings of my temperature as it would skyrocket causing my muscles and joints to cramp up and then the full body sweat soaking my patofs and the subsequent crash of temperature.  Yay.

What's that?  What are patofs?  Some of you may may remember a certain clown named Patof, and his dog Boulik I believe from Patofville where Polpon was police chief and Itof was a visiting Russian spy.  1972, au Français.  If you remember him, then you may remember his pants.  My red pajamas pants and my mustard coloured tshirt and voila, just like Patof.  I call my pj bottoms patofs.  Just a glimpse into the complicated world of Daniel's mind.

Hey, how about those Russian hosted Olympics?  Not near as much fun without the Cold War.  I say let's do away with the nationalism, no longer country against country, but instead ideology against ideology.  Invite Al-Queda, Hamas, Hezbullah and their ilk to the Olympics and then they can do the short track speed skate against the Ku Klux Klan and Warren Jeff's and his FLDS church?  The Bethesda Christian Church vs Jamaica's J-Flag in.. Bobsledding of course!  it's EXtremo-Fun for the whole family!

But... Nationalism is here for a bit longer.. So. WAY to GO Canada!! WAY to GO Quebec!   I think we are sitting with 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze.   Quebec athletes Justine Dufour-Lapointe brought in Gold in Women's Freestyle Moguls,  Alexandre Bilodeau defended his Gold in men's Freestyle moguls, and Charles Hamelin added another Gold in Short track Speed Skate to his previous 2 Golds and 1 Silver from '06 and '10.  Ontario's Dara Howell took a Gold in women's Freestyle Slope-style.

On the subject of nationalism.. Were you aware that back in the early '70s during NASA's moon missions (yes, Armstrong et al did land on the moon in '69) that the Ruskies also landed on the moon?  YEP.  They did land two lunar rovers that happily wandered over large tracts of the lunar surface.  They had a failed rover in '69 and then the two successful ones in '70 and '73.  At the time there wasn't a hint of it on western news.

Just before the conspiracy theorists jump in with, "Fake, fake, fake, they did it on a sound stage in the Ukraine!",   I will gently inform them that NASA independently confirmed it in 2010 when the located Lunokhod 1 and bounced an Earth based laser off of its reflective panel.  Yeah, I know, NASA is in on the conspiracy :)

How about this, China landed on the moon December 14 2013 in the Sea of Rains and deployed their own lunar rover, The Jade Rabbit, Yutu as it friend know it.  Now there had been reports yesterday that Yutu was dead on this third day (bear with me.  Yesterday - Earth's yesterday.  But a Lunar day is 14 earth days, so although the rover landed on December 14, this is only the 3rd day on the moon).

BUT YUTU LIVES!

That's right kids, seem Yutu has had a few problems and had not powered up after the long (and dammed cold) Lunar night and was not responding to mission control in China, but a number of hours ago the little rabbit that could wiggled it nose and resumed its Lunar activities.

Have a great day.

  1. Glad to see that your health is improving! Onwards and upwards! Now, we can all enjoy these whimsical glimpses into the windmills of your mind! Enjoying the Olympics, but their 'Disney on Ice' version of their history in the opening ceremonies was hard to take. Lots I can add here...Stay well, Daniel!
